September is suicide prevention month, where we, as a community, come together to remind those who are struggling that they are not alone.

One small act can make a difference in the life of a Veteran or Service member in crisis.
Every year, many organizations across the country recognize September as Suicide Prevention Month, including us. For Veterans going through a difficult time and their loved ones who are concerned about them, a single call, chat, or text can be a critical first step. One conversation with a Veteran about how he or she is doing can open the door to services and support.
Veterans Crisis Line
If you’re a Veteran that is struggling and need to talk, the Veterans Crisis Line is there for you. The Veterans Crisis Line is a place for you to call, text or chat when you’re overwhelmed. They get it. No lectures, just people who answer and listen.
Dial 988 then Press 1, chat online at VeteransCrisisLine.net/Chat, or text 838255.
And remember: It’s confidential. You decide how much information to share. It’s free, and VA enrollment isn’t required. It’s for all Veterans.
Veterans Peer Support Group
If you are in the Indianapolis, Indiana metro area, consider joining our weekly group. Veterans from different branches and backgrounds come together every Friday night to discuss various topics in a open format and share stories about what is going on in their lives. Check out our event calendar at Bikersinc.com/Events for more information. For those struggling with day to day operations, Indiana Veterans Outreach assists with food and direct bill pay.
