Veterans open forum peer-to-peer support group composed of fellow Veterans.

This is a casual, hassle free, peer-to-peer, open forum group that is open to all Veterans where we talk about whatever is on everyone's minds. We meet every Friday Night at our Veterans office located near Fort Harrison in Lawrence, Indiana. Hot coffee, snacks, bottled water and soft drinks are provided at no charge. This is a very large group with average attendance of roughly 25-30 verified Veterans.
If you are new, you must bring a copy of your DD-214 and a picture ID to be able to join in, no exceptions. After four meetings, you will be issued a "Verified Veteran ID Badge" to enter future meetings. Badge has our logo, photo, name, branch of service, private number of our 24/7 warmline and nothing else. We keep no "numbers served" records and participants only need to prove Veteran status.
This group is completely independent, self funded, no paid staff, nor receive any state or government funding. Facility is ADA compliant, fully handicap accessible and accepts bona fide service dogs. To inquire about a seat for the group, go to Liberty Call and fill out the form provided and submit it. Due to bad experiences with the Veterans Administration, their lack of support and votes of the group members, no state Veteran Service Officers (VSO) past or present are permitted to partake. We've never lost any sleep over the decision.

The folks at Liberty Call prefers to treat PTSD as a Mental Injury and not a Mental Illness. They feel their concept of treating PTSD as a Mental Injury and not a Mental Illness encourages a healing process that group members embrace. Every month, the group has a different facilitator pooled from group members.
